Young Love

A spurned Bronx teen took revenge on his girlfriend's new lover, stabbing the new beau to death in the girl's hallway, cops said Monday.
Kevin Santiago, 16, was in police custody Monday after he surrendered in the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old rival Michael Silva, police sources said.
The young woman at the center of the love triangle - Alma DeJesus, 16 - could barely speak as she left her E. 163rd St. apartment.
"I don't want to talk about it. I'm too upset," DeJesus said.
DeJesus and Silva, who had been dating for about a month, were hanging out in her fifth-floor hallway Sunday night when a jealous Santiago appeared, police said.
DeJesus had broken up with Santiago, but the two had a 7-month-old daughter together, and Santiago was bitter about the break-up, neighbors said.
When Santiago saw Silva with his arm around DeJesus, he exploded, neighbors said.
Santiago chased DeJesus down the hallway until DeJesus ducked and hid inside her mother's apartment.
"He meant to kill her," said neighbor Amarylis Medina, 45, who lives down the hallway.
After Santiago banged on Jesus' door, screaming for her to come out, Silva approached and ordered the ex-lover to leave, cops and witnesses said.
"Who the f--- are you?" Santiago screamed before he turned his knife on Silva, stabbing him once in the chest, cops said.
Friends and neighbors said Santiago had been stalking DeJesus for several weeks but had stepped up his threats before the stabbing.
Silva told DeJesus he would protect her, but the teen advised him to stay out of the fray, neighbors said.
"[Santiago] was stalking her all day," Medina said. "But [Silva] promised her that he would be good and he wouldn't touch him. Then he got killed."

  1. This is truly sad... I will talk to my son and let him know it doesn't pay to get caught up in a love triangle and it really doesn't pay to get caught up so young...SAD.
